WISeKey releases WISeID Personal© to Support its CGI Commitment to Provide One Billion Digital Identities by 2015 while reducing poverty by monetizing active eyeballs

New York, September 24, 2013 – Established in 2005 by President Bill Clinton, the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), convenes global leaders to create and implement innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. CGI Annual Meetings have brought together more than 150 heads of state, 20 Nobel Prize laureates, and hundreds of leading CEOs, heads of foundations and NGOs, major philanthropists, and members of the media.
At this week’s international thematic annual meeting, “Mobilizing For Impact” in New York, WISeKey a leading global digital security solutions company launched the WISeID Personal as support to the commitment  the company with the  CGI since 2007. In collaboration with the OISTE Foundation, an NGO with special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, WISeKey’s commitment is “to reduce the Digital Identification gap in less developed countries and emerging economies by creating the infrastructure that will create a de-facto global digital identity community of 1 billion users while providing equitable and meaningful access to the Internet.
WISeKey’s ongoing CGI engagement includes building a digital identity application for mobile phones via the WISeID Personal© app, which enables digital identification to the currently unidentified populations of poorer countries, as well as building communities through facilitated communications and Internet access.  WISeKey’s ongoing research and development in this field has also already allowed individuals, enterprises and governments to access information, and secure fundamental, essential services via their digital identities such as ePayment, eGovernmant, eLearning, eHealth, eTravel, and mobile transactions in a secure, flexible, enhanced social network environment.
“The CGI is a game-changing event that brings together world leaders to bring solutions to  the world’s most pressing challenges,” said Carlos Moreira, Founder and CEO WISeKey SA. “We’re proud to bring our expertise and strong belief via our commitment that, in working towards reducing the digital gap and investing on digital identification to foster Internet Connectivity will create new business to eradicate poverty. According to ITU.INT of the more than 7 billion people on the planet, only about 2.7 billion, or 39%, have Internet access. If we give them digital identifications they will become active eyeballs allowing them to monetize their interactions against access to education, health, food and basic services allowing them to become skilled workers, new consumers, and ultimately generate positive economic impact on a global scale.”
