WISeKey 20 Years at Davos
For the past 20 years, WISeKey has been honored to play a pivotal role at the Davos gatherings, recognized as one of the founding New Champions for innovation, technology, and resilience. Our journey began in 2004, just five years after WISeKey’s founding, with a Cybersecurity Breakfast held at the renowned Belvédère Hotel. At the time, few could predict how digital threats would reshape society, but WISeKey was already setting the stage for crucial conversations about safeguarding the digital landscape.
This first event brought together pioneering voices in cybersecurity, bridging thought leaders across sectors to discuss the vulnerabilities and risks society was beginning to encounter. With a handful of experts sharing their knowledge, we began to explore what was then a relatively uncharted terrain. This breakfast evolved over the years, as WISeKey’s gathering at Davos grew in scale and influence, becoming one of the must-attend events . From those early days, attendance has swelled to over 700 participants per event, with guests ranging from tech innovators and corporate executives to government officials and influential personalities, all drawn by a shared commitment to a secure digital future.
WISeKey’s annual gatherings have maintained a Swiss-centric perspective, rooted in Switzerland’s tradition of neutrality and precision, offering a safe platform for open dialogue on complex issues. We have consistently advocated for a human-centric internet, stressing the importance of digital sovereignty and privacy. Our events have highlighted the critical need for data protection grounded in human consent and advanced digital identification frameworks for individuals and connected objects alike. This approach has allowed us to remain at the forefront of discussions on internet governance, securing trust across digital infrastructures, and balancing innovation with human rights.
Over the years, WISeKey’s Davos events have expanded in scope, covering a broad spectrum of critical topics. In addition to cybersecurity, our discussions have addressed the Internet of Things (IoT), recognizing the implications of a world where billions of devices communicate autonomously. We’ve delved into blockchain technology and digital identity solutions, understanding how these innovations can drive transparency, security, and trust. As artificial intelligence evolved from theory to reality, we explored the ethical implications and practical challenges it presents. More recently, with the advent of quantum computing, we have looked at post-quantum cryptography and its future role in protecting our digital infrastructures from potential quantum-based threats. We’ve also extended these discussions into the realms of space security and tokenization, recognizing the digital future’s rapid expansion beyond Earth.
Each year, WISeKey has brought together global minds to foster collaboration and inspire new approaches to these pressing issues. Our events have provided a platform for speakers and guests to reflect on the technological advances shaping the 21st century, with WISeKey acting as a guide in this rapidly evolving landscape. With an emphasis on the human implications of technology, WISeKey has consistently reminded audiences that technology should empower and protect individuals rather than compromise them.
In 2025, we look forward to another exciting chapter, as WISeKey continues this legacy with renewed commitment. We invite everyone passionate about a secure, ethical, and inclusive digital future to join us by registering at [www.wisekey.com/davos25]. Together, let us continue to shape the future, ensuring that technology remains a force for good, grounded in the principles of trust, security, and human dignity.
