WISeKey USA recruits Elie Massabki to lead our Silicon Valley office
Geneva, San Francisco, September 2, 2015 – WISeKey USA just recruited Elie Massabki to lead our Silicon Valley office. Elie is a high-tech executive and leader with 25 years of experience in general management, sales, marketing, business development and engineering. He held executive level positions with public fortune 500 companies as well as private start-ups. Prior to joining WISeKey, Mr. Massabki led Kili Technology’s sales and marketing efforts globally and established Kili’s US office in Silicon Valley. Kili was successfully sold to mobile payment company Square.
“Elie will be assisting WISeKey to expand its USA deployment as SVP Sales. His network and prior customers will help WISeKey to explore opportunities for WISeKey in the United States, said Carlos Moreira, CEO and founder of WISeKey. Elie will build a lean sales team comprised of direct salespeople, independent representatives and distributors to quickly make an impact on the company’s top line.” The cybersecurity is in high demand in USA due to the recent sharp rise in cybersecurity attacks at all levels, from government to individual consumers. WISeKey presence in North America is a top priority for the company as North America is expected to lead the global cybersecurity market with demand for cybersecurity systems in the US to support market growth.
“WISeKey has an impressive line-up of digital security technology and a unique IoT offering that is of great interest to many US companies in a variety of markets.,” said Elie Massabki, SVP Sales and Marketing at WISeKey. “I look forward to joining WISeKey and be part of the US team ad develop the operations in Silicon Valley.”
WISeKey is also currently deploying large scale IoT digital identities for wearable’s using its Trusted near Field Communications (NFC) technology. This trusted technology integrates wearable technology with secure authentication and identification, in both physical and virtual environments, and empowers wearable devices such as smart watches, bands, ear-pods, jewelry, eyeglasses, smart clothing, contact lenses, etc. to become transactional devices.
It is estimated that the global wearable’s market will grow at an annual rate of 35% over the next five years. The rapid growth of the number of connected devices is driving the shift from the current traditional mobile payment method to secure transactions from wearable devices using trusted communications and authentication technology. WISeKey’s trusted NFC technology enables these wearable devices to safely connect and make secure payments and other transactions. Trust and Privacy are a serious concern for any large scale IoT deployment even when users and corporations take all precautions to secure their information, there are conditions that are beyond their control requiring strong authentication and encryption. Current sophisticated hackers can now craft attacks with unprecedented sophistication and correlate information not just from traditional sources but also from different private sources, such as mobile phones, smart cars, smart home automation systems, intelligent cities etc as we have already 25 billion devices connected and 75 billion are slated to connect by 2020. With more than 70 percent of current IoT devices contain serious vulnerabilities.
