Danil Kerimi is an experienced technology executive skilled in the nuanced creation and articulation of market sensitive agenda and messaging in complex multijurisdictional arenas. He is an inspirational leader who builds high-performing teams in digital transformation. His extensive experience in the developed, emerging and frontier markets helps Danil to deliver impactful projects in corporate strategy, business development, public and investor relations, ESG, tech and economic diplomacy.
As an expert in investor/internal/external/government relations, Danil is working with national, regional and municipal governments, large enterprises, start-up and investor communities on accelerating and securing digital transition around the world and applying newfound capabilities for solving biggest challenges in health, food and environmental ecosystems. Danil is most passionate about unlocking both the entrepreneurial and intrapreneurial potential of individuals and organizations to drive positive change in the world.
During his 12 years with the World Economic Forum (WEF), Danil served on the Leadership Team in the Centres for Global Industries, Global Technology and Regional Strategies. He was posted in Geneva, New York, San Franscisco and Beijng. In his last role, Danil built a network of Centres for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Asia with offices in Beijing, Mumbai and Tokyo. Danil oversaw all APAC operations for the network and worked closely with EMEA and LATAM hubs of WEF’s Network for Global Technology Governance. He led interdisciplinary teams with a mission to maximize the benefits of science and technology for society by partnering with governments, companies, civil society, and experts from around the world to co-design new approaches to technology, business and governance.
Concurenlty, Danil served as a manager of the Global Future Council on Agumented and Virtual Reality. Previously, he has managed councils and working groups on Cybersecutiry, Future of Computing, Anti Corruption, Conflict Prevention, Emerging Markets, Digital Policy and Regional/National Competiveness as well as Industry Governors groups. For more than a decade, Danil have been working on national digital/cyber strategies, internet governance and evidence-based policy making. He led WEF’s engagement in the Netmundial Initiative, developed and strengthened its relationships with top policy makers, international and regional organizations (UN, ITU, EU, OSCE, ASEAN, AU, OAS, APEC, etc), development banks (IADB, ADB, AfDB, AIIB, EBRD, NDB, etc), c-suit executives of Fortune 2000 and founders of most innovative technology pioneers, leaders from the top media, academic and philanthropical organizations.
Prior to WEF, Danil served as a Terrorism Prevention Expert, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime where he focused on delivering technical assistance on cybersecurity, digital platforms, AML/CFT/KYC and international cooperation in criminal justice. He has also served as the Senior Legal Advisor on Hate Crime for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. He had stints with the International Organization for Migration and SMEs in the manufacturing and media industries.
Danil is a graduate of Shandong University (LLB), Vienna Diplomatic Academy (MA) and the Global Leadership Fellowship (MA)- a collaborative program run by the WEF, CEIBS, INSEAD, LBS, Wharton School and Columbia University. Danil earned multiple diplomas in Business (MODUL Uni, Wharton), Regional Studies (Central European University, University of Wits, National University of Singapore), public diplomacy (University of Malta), corporate governance (Wharton School and Financial Times), cybersecurity (Harvard). His served as a fellow at the Berkman –Klein Centre for Internet and Society at Harvard, on the Advisory Boards of Stanford Cyber Policy Program, Korea Media Governance Lab, Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice & Human Rights, Cornell’s Emerging Markets Institute and the World information Technology and Services Alliance.
Danil is regularly invited to judge various start up competitions including Sultan Qaboos Award, StatsZero Challenge, Arrell Global Food Innovation Awards. He is a member of the International Telecommunication Union’s Working Groups on the Smart and Sustainable Cities as well as Guiding Principles for Artificial Intelligence.
